Plagron Cocos Perlite 70/30

A premium, non-fertilised blend of 70% coco coir and 30% perlite from one of Europe's leading substrate brands. Fully buffered, with a stable pH and very low starting EC, so it won't interfere with your own feeding.

Why a 70/30 Mix?

  • Even moisture: coco holds water evenly through the pot, so roots don't swing from soaked to bone dry.
  • Air at the roots: the perlite keeps oxygen pockets open, protecting against overwatering and root rot.
  • Gnat-resistant: clean coco gives fungus gnats far less to breed in than standard peat compost.
  • No fertiliser burn: non-fertilised and buffered, so it's gentle on freshly repotted roots.
  • Reusable: quality coco and perlite can be reused for multiple cycles.

Perfect For

  • Calathea, Maranta and Stromanthe: prayer plants that need constant, even moisture
  • Pothos, Scindapsus, heartleaf Philodendron and Syngonium
  • Ferns, Fittonia and Peperomia
  • Cuttings and propagation
  • Pots, containers and hydroponic systems

Potting a Monstera, Alocasia or Anthurium? These chunky-rooted climbers want even more air around their roots. Our LECA & Coco 60/40 mixes, including Plagron's own Hydro Cocos 60/40, are the better match.

Before you buy: as a non-fertilised base, it needs a liquid feed from day one. Intense Nutrients Coco A&B is an affordable, reliable two-part feed made for coco.

FAQs

Do I need to wash or buffer it before use?
No. Plagron Cocos is fully buffered and rinsed, with a very low starting EC, so it's ready to use straight from the bag.

How are the smaller sizes packed?
1L to 20L are repacked from bulk 50L bags into quality, unbranded, resealable grip-seal bags. 50L and 100L come in the original Plagron packaging.

Can I reuse it?
Yes. Flush it through and use an enzyme product, such as Plagron Pure Zym, to break down old roots before replanting.
