Every extraction fan makes two noises: the motor, and the air. The motor is a gentle hum. The air is the roar that comes rushing down the ducting and out of every gap. A flexible silencer deals with the second one. It's a metre of acoustic-lined, sound-absorbing duct that sits straight after your fan and soaks up that rushing noise before it reaches the rest of the run.

Why this silencer

  • Acoustic lining. Absorbs the high-pitched rush of fast-moving air, which is the part of fan noise people find most annoying.
  • Flexible. It bends up to 90°, so it fits into tent corners and tight spots where a rigid can silencer won't go.
  • German-made and built to last.
  • Fits any brand. Standard duct sizes from 4" to 12" work with RAM, AC Infinity, Rhino, Systemair and other fans.
  • 1 metre long and clamps on just like ducting.

Sizes

4" (100mm), 5" (125mm), 6" (150mm), 8" (200mm), 10" (250mm) and 12" (315mm), all 1 metre long. Match it to your fan's spigot size.

The quiet stack

For the quietest possible extraction: a noise reduction clamp between fan and filter to stop vibration, this silencer straight after the fan, then acoustic ducting (like RAM Sonoduct) for the rest of the run. Everything is in our ducting range.

Rose's Pro-Tip

"Fit the silencer on the fan's outlet, as close as you can. That's where the noise is born. Catch it there and the rest of your ducting stays quiet too. Pull the silencer straight where you can; a gentle bend is fine, but don't kink it."

FAQ

Will it slow my airflow?
Barely. It's a full-bore duct, so the effect is similar to adding a metre of ducting.

Can I use it on the intake side?
Yes, though it does most good on the exhaust straight after the fan.
