Growers obsess over lighting and nutrients, then treat airflow as an afterthought. That's backwards — poor ventilation undoes good lighting and feeding faster than almost anything else.
What ventilation actually does: it replaces CO2 your plants have used up, controls temperature and humidity, and strengthens stems by giving them something to move against (still air produces weak, leggy growth). Skip it, and you're capping your plants' potential regardless of how good everything else is.
Two types you need, not one:
- Extraction (inline duct fans like the AC Infinity Cloudline series) — pulls hot, humid air out of your space entirely. This is non-negotiable in any enclosed tent or room.
- Circulation (oscillating clip fans like the Cyclone 7") — moves air around the space so there's no still air pooling near the canopy. Extraction alone isn't enough; you need both moving air out and moving air around.
The mistake we see most: buying a powerful light, then running a fan sized for a much smaller space. Heat builds up, plants stress, and growth stalls — and it gets blamed on the nutrients or the light, when it was airflow the whole time.
Rule of thumb: size your extraction fan to your tent's volume (most fan listings give you this), and always run a circulation fan alongside it, not instead of it.
