RAM Aluduct Ducting – 4" to 12" Low-Noise Aluminium (5m & 10m)
Ducting is the one part of a ventilation system nobody admires, which is exactly why it's so often the part that lets everything down. A great fan pushing through crumpled, saggy, rattling ducting is a great fan wasted. RAM Aluduct is the fix: three-ply aluminium and polyester laminate wrapped round a high-tensile steel wire helix, so it holds a smooth round bore instead of collapsing into a noisy concertina.
Why Aluduct
- Holds its shape. The encapsulated steel helix keeps the duct round. A smooth bore means less drag, more airflow and less noise than flimsy foil ducting.
- Tough 3-ply laminate of aluminium and polyester, which resists tears and pinholes far better than single-layer foil.
- Light and easy to work with. It cuts to length with a sharp knife and wire snips, and bends round corners without kinking.
- The best value way to move air. The cheapest RAM ducting per metre, ideal for straightforward runs.
Sizes
Every diameter comes in 5m and 10m lengths: 4" (102mm), 5" (127mm), 6" (152mm), 8" (203mm), 10" (254mm) and 12" (315mm). Match the ducting to your fan and filter.
Aluduct, Combi-Duct or Sonoduct?
| Ducting | Noise | Pick it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Aluduct (this one) | Good | You want cheap, light and easy |
| Combi-Duct | Better | Light leaks or looks matter; black PVC outer |
| Sonoduct | Best | Noise, heat loss or condensation is a problem |
All three are in our ducting range.
Not just for growers
- Grow tents and grow rooms
- Kitchen, bathroom and utility extractor fans
- Workshop and garage extraction
- Portable air-con and dehumidifier exhaust hoses
Rose's Pro-Tip
"Pull your ducting fully out and cut it to length. Never leave a 10m duct crumpled up in a 2m run. Bunched ducting roars, traps condensation and robs your fan of a big slice of its airflow. Keep runs short and straight, use smooth gentle bends, and finish every joint with a clip and a wrap of aluminium tape."
FAQ
How do I cut it?
Slice the laminate with a sharp knife, then snip the steel wire with side cutters. Fold the cut wire end inwards so it doesn't snag.
How do I attach it?
Slide it over the fan or filter spigot and secure it with a ducting clip or jubilee clip, then tape the joint.
Is it the same diameter as my fan?
Use the same size as your fan's spigot, e.g. a 6" fan takes 6" (152mm) ducting.
