Paying for a heavyweight filter you'll never push to its limit is like buying a lorry to do the school run. Most grow tents and small rooms don't need a 30kg industrial scrubber. They need a filter that's matched to the fan, kills the smell and doesn't cost a fortune. That's the Mammoth Lite: proper RC48 activated carbon in a lighter, leaner body, at a price that leaves money for the things that actually grow your plants.

This listing carries all 11 Mammoth Lite sizes, from a 4" cupboard filter to a 12" 1.2-metre model rated at 4,250 m³/h, so there's a Lite to match almost any fan.

Why growers rate Mammoth Lite

  • RC48 activated carbon. A high-grade carbon with a large internal surface area, so it traps odours and VOCs (cooking, smoke, paint fumes and plant smells) rather than masking them.
  • 38mm carbon bed. A compact bed keeps the filter light and lets air through easily. That means less strain on your fan and big airflow for the money.
  • Lightweight build. Much easier to lift, hang and reposition than heavyweight filters of the same duct size.
  • Pre-filter fitted. The outer sleeve catches dust before it can clog the carbon.

Not just for growers

A carbon filter takes smell out of moving air, which is useful in a lot of places:

  • Grow tents for herbs, chillies, tomatoes and flowering houseplants
  • Mushroom fruiting chambers, which have a surprisingly earthy aroma
  • Drying rooms for herbs, chillies and flowers
  • Fermentation and home-brew corners
  • Hobby rooms with paint, glue or resin smells (for odour only; a carbon filter is no substitute for proper fume extraction or a respirator)

Rose's Pro-Tip

"A Lite works best when it isn't flat out. Pick one rated about 20% above your fan's free-flow figure, and if a size comes in two lengths, go long: more carbon means the same air moves through it more slowly and gets scrubbed more thoroughly. Keep your humidity under about 80% too, because damp carbon can't do its job."

How to match a filter to your fan

Start with the duct diameter. It's simplest when fan, filter and ducting all share one size. If they differ, pick a filter slightly bigger than the fan, never smaller. Ducting and the filter both add resistance, so your fan will move less air in real life than its free-flow rating suggests.

  • Pre-filter: fitted outer dust sleeve
  • Sizes: 4" to 12" duct, 300mm to 1200mm body
  • Use: exhaust or intake, mounted vertically or horizontally

FAQ

Mammoth Lite or a heavier filter?
For most tents and small rooms a Lite does the job at a much lower price. Heavier filters with deeper carbon beds are worth it if you run a powerful fan around the clock or want the longest possible life between replacements.

Does it need a fan?
Yes. A carbon filter is passive, so it needs an inline fan of the same (or slightly smaller) duct size to pull air through it.

How do I hang the big ones?
The 1-metre-plus 10" and 12" models weigh 21–31kg. Use a filter stand or strong ceiling chains, never the ducting.
