KILOMIX - Heavy Feeder Bio-Mineral Potting Soil – Atami
🔀 Type: Bio-Mineral
A deliberate blend of organic and mineral nutrients, combining mineral's speed and precision with organic's lower burn-risk and soil-life benefit. The tradeoff: as a blend, it's rarely the single best choice at either extreme.
Atami Kilomix — A Heavily Fertilised Soil That Genuinely Means It
Kilomix is Atami's richest substrate, and it earns that reputation honestly: sphagnum peat, perlite, lime, seabird guano, worm humus, and a mineral NPK charge (12-14-24) combine into a soil so well-fed that once a plant is potted, it genuinely doesn't need feeding again for six to seven weeks. That's not marketing language — it's the actual, stated guidance.
Good For Heavy Feeders.
Kilomix earns its keep with plants that genuinely want to feed hard for weeks on end:
- Established, Robust Houseplants: Pothos, Spider Plants, mature Peace Lilies, and Rubber Plants that are settled in and ready to grow hard.
- Ficus Trees & Stately Foliage: Fiddle Leaf Figs and Weeping Figs that want heavy nitrogen and deep soil structure.
- Patio & Container Edibles: Tomatoes, chillies, peppers, and herbs that reward a sustained, rich charge.
- Mature Potting Upgrades: Root-bound, established plants that have completely exhausted their old soil and need a real injection of nutrition.
One genuine caution worth repeating from Atami's own guidance: young plants with small root structures can find Kilomix too rich. If you're potting something young or freshly propagated, bring it on in a Light Mix soil first until it's established, then move it up to Kilomix once the roots can handle the charge.
