Clonex Rooting Gel – The Propagation Classic Since 1988

Rooting powder has a problem: it falls off. Dip a cutting, push it into compost, and half the hormone stays at the top of the hole. Clonex was invented to fix that. It's a thick, water-based gel that clings to the cut stem, seals the wound, and keeps rooting hormone in contact exactly where roots will form. Since 1988 it has rooted billions of cuttings, and it's still the gel most propagators reach for first.

Why It Works

  • Seals the cut: the gel coats the wound, helping protect against infection and moisture loss
  • Rooting hormone where it counts: IBA hormone held in contact with the stem
  • Feeds new root cells with vitamins and minerals for root development
  • Alcohol-free, so it won't dehydrate or burn soft stems
  • Made under pharmaceutical laboratory conditions by Growth Technology in the UK

Perfect For

  • Houseplant propagation: Pothos, Philodendron, Monstera, Hoya, Begonia, Tradescantia and more
  • Garden cuttings: herbs, shrubs, roses and ornamentals
  • Growers taking cuttings in plugs, cubes or cloners

How to Use

  1. Decant: pour a little gel into a separate clean container, so you never contaminate the bottle.
  2. Dip: take a fresh cutting and dip the cut end into the gel.
  3. Insert: push it straight into your rooting medium (Root Riot cubes, rockwool, peat or perlite).
  4. Mist: keep it in a propagator or humid spot and mist regularly. Clonex Mist makes a great partner.

Roots usually appear in around 7–14 days, depending on the plant.

🌿 Rose's Pro-Tip: never dip straight into the bottle. A fresh cutting can carry bacteria back in, and that's what spoils a bottle long before the gel itself expires. Tip out what you need, use it, and throw the leftover away.
