LECA Clay Pebbles for Semi-Hydro Houseplants – Atami
🪨 Type: Inert Structural Media
Contains no nutrient content by design — this is texture, drainage, and aeration, not food. Meant to be used as a standalone medium, a mix-in component, or a soil amendment.
Atami Hydro-Rokz – Agricultural Clay Pebbles
Atami Hydro Rokz pebbles are used for various growing methods. Sometimes they're placed at the bottom of the flowerpot when growing on a substrate like soil, used as additional drainage so oxygen supply from below is more effective. Sometimes hydro pebbles are mixed in with the substrate to make the growing medium more aerated, allowing roots to branch off better.
A third widely used method is growing plants directly on hydro pebbles, often in combination with an oxygen pump — the roots at the bottom of the pot stay constantly immersed in water with liquid fertilisers mixed in, while the oxygen pump provides enough oxygen for the roots. This growing method is very successful indeed.
Key Features:
- Precision EC Rating (0.4): A stated, known EC value — rather than a vague "inert" claim — gives you accurate control over your total nutrient solution strength from the outset.
- Excellent Aeration: Encourages stronger, better-branched root systems whether used as a drainage layer, mixed into substrate, or as a full growing medium.
- Reusable: Rinse and reuse across multiple grow cycles.
Perfect For Semi-Hydro Houseplants:
The same three uses that make Hydro-Rokz effective for hydroponic crops apply directly to houseplants:
- As a Drainage Layer: A base layer beneath potting soil for any plant prone to overwatering.
- Mixed Into Substrate: Blend into soil or coco to aerate the mix for Monstera, Philodendron, and Alocasia.
- Full Semi-Hydro Setup: Grow Hoya, Anthurium, and Orchids directly in Hydro-Rokz with a passive or active reservoir setup, exactly as described above for hydroponic crops.
