It lands on a grey wall, a bare floorboard or a ceiling joist, and quietly turns into nothing. The cheapest upgrade most growing spaces will ever get is not a brighter lamp – it is a whiter wall.

Visqueen Black/White Sheeting is that wall. One side is a bright white coating that bounces stray light back towards your plants; the other is solid black, so light from outside stays outside – and light from inside stays in. Two jobs, one film, no paint.

Why Visqueen?

Visqueen has spent decades making polythene for building sites and farms – the kind of places where sheeting gets walked on, dragged, stapled and rained on, and is expected to survive. At 120 microns this roll is noticeably heavier than the thin budget film that tears the first time you staple it, which is precisely the point: you only want to line a room once.

The Economics (Because Someone Should Mention Them)

At 8m x 25m, this roll gives you a full 200m² of coverage. That is enough to line the walls and floor of several rooms, a whole garage conversion, or a commercial propagation area – and it works out at roughly a pound per square metre. Buying film in small pre-cut lengths feels cheaper at the till; per square metre, it almost never is.

Where It Earns Its Keep

Indoor grow rooms and tents – line walls and floors to reflect light back into the canopy and stop light leaks.

Propagation and seedling areas – brighter, more even light for trays of young plants.

Plant rooms, conservatories and houseplant shelving – a white backing behind grow lights makes a real difference to leggy, light-hungry houseplants.

Sheds, garages and lofts – a wipe-clean, light-proof partition or floor protector.

Blackout jobs – black side out for total light control.

Key Features

Dimensions: 8m x 25m (200m² total coverage)

Thickness: 120 micron (µm)

Dual-sided: reflective white / light-blocking black

Strong and tear-resistant – suitable for floors as well as walls

Cuts cleanly with scissors or a utility knife

Wipe-clean polythene surface

Rose's Pro-Tip

White side faces your plants, always. When lining walls, overlap each seam by 5–10cm and tape it, so there are no slivers of bare wall reflecting nothing. On floors, run the sheet a little way up the skirting – it turns a spill into a wipe rather than a stain. And leave a touch of slack rather than pulling it drum-tight: polythene that is fitted under tension is polythene that splits at the staples.

Black Flag Horticulture

Supplied by Black Flag Horticulture, a UK horticulture specialist with thousands of happy customers.
